How much will an overhaul cost?
The cost of an overhaul depends on the type of prop that you have and the condition of your propeller. At the Hartzell Service Center, we have established a base overhaul price for every model of propeller. This base price includes the labor required to overhaul the propeller and the parts that are required to be replaced at overhaul. The base price does not include the replacement of other parts such as blades or hubs. To obtain the base rate price to overhaul your propeller, identify what propeller model you have and then contact the Service Center by phone, fax or e-mail.

Will my prop overhaul for the base price?
This question cannot be answered without beginning the overhaul process. Some factors that can lead to retirement of major parts include: age of the material, the number of previous overhauls, not following Hartzell’s recommended maintenance practices, operating from unimproved strips or on floats and operating in harsh environments such as salt air.

How long will it take to overhaul my prop?
The answer depends on whether you use our exchange service. If you utilize exchange, the down time is generally 1 day. In other cases, it takes about 2 weeks for us to overhaul your propeller.

Why should I overhaul my prop at the calendar limit if I still have many hours before I hit the hours limit?
Hartzell’s overhaul recommendation includes both a calendar limit and hour limit. While some factors, such as fatigue, are a function of hours of operation, other factors, such as corrosion, are functions of the passage of time. As a result, Hartzell has established both calendar and time limits in its overhaul recommendation.
