PIQUA, Ohio August 23, 2004 Hartzell Propeller Inc. announced today that it has signed a Long Term Agreement with Cirrus Design Corporation covering propellers for all Cirrus SR20 and SR22 aircraft. The contract represents one of the largest orders in the companyšs history. Hartzell began working closely with Cirrus in 1996 to develop high performance, low noise 2- and 3-blade propellers for the SR20 and later developed a new 3-blade propeller that helped launch the SR22. These propellers became the progenitor for Hartzellšs "blended airfoil" technology. Cirrus recently certified a new 3-bladed propeller system for the SR22-G2 utilizing this latest Hartzell design technology. This new propeller improved cruise speed by 2-3 knots over the first generation SR22 propeller. "In formalizing our long standing relationship, we are very gratified that Cirrus has recognized Hartzellšs ability to continue to provide them with the most advanced high performance propeller systems available" said Mike Disbrow, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Customer Services for Hartzell. Cirrus Design manufactures and markets composite personal aviation aircraft, incorporating advanced technologies that result in high levels of performance, safety and comfort. Cirrus Design Corporation (www.cirrusdesign.com) based in Duluth, Minnesota, has an additional manufacturing facility in Grand Forks, North Dakota, 12 Regional Offices in the United States and sales agents strategically located throughout the world. Hartzell Propeller Inc. is widely recognized as the leader in advanced propeller design and manufacturing technology. NASA has recognized Hartzell's advanced design capability by naming it the exclusive propeller partner for its General Aviation Propulsion (GAP) program. The company has recently developed the next generation of propeller designs based upon innovative "blended airfoil" technology and is manufacturing these blades on revolutionary machining centers to provide mission optimized performance for its customers. Hartzell traces its beginnings in 1917 to a relationship with Orville Wright and was founded on the principal of Built on Honor - a tradition that continues today. |
